For a few weeks the world will live at the pace of the football matches that will be held in South Africa.
Before the kick-off is an opportunity to review the state of the playing field and to examine the situation of Africa's largest economy. With a GDP of USD 287 bn (equivalent to that of Greece), it accounts for 20% of the continent’s GDP. It is also one of the economies that posted the least good performance in 2009 (- 1.8%), at a time when Africa as a whole was displaying growth in excess of 2%.
